Destination: Opportunity
The KAI Foundation is the Non-Profit Arm of Kartagener Associates Inc. (KAI). Together with our local partners around the world, we create a pathway to a brighter future for the people and destinations where KAI operates.
The KAI Foundation supports community health and education initiatives across the globe with the mission of providing a better future to those most in need.
Foundation
Sales & marketing representation company, KAI, has been a leading voice in the travel industry for more than 30 years. With a mission to foster creative collaboration and champion meaningful travel experiences, their approach supports both the travelers and the communities they are visiting. The years of cultural and social immersion, has undoubtedly led to lasting impacts on many that are carried throughout ones life.
Throughout KAI’s history, there has always been a drive to assist in the success of community led initiatives. By empowering local communities where their partners operate, KAI hopes to play a role in a sustainable upward trajectory. After years of helping when and where possible, this mindset was given a mission and a name through KAI’s nonprofit - The KAI Foundation.
Founded in 2015, the Kartagener family formalized the social impact activities of KAI in the formation of The KAI Foundation.
Today, The KAI Foundation is fully funded by private donations, with immense pride in knowing that 100% of donations go directly to these communities.
Focus
The road out of poverty can only commence when those in need have access to quality healthcare and education. In developing countries these basic services are often not available to the majority of the population.
The KAI Foundation co-develops facilities that empower communities by improving access to quality healthcare and education opportunities.
Footprint
Upon forming in 2015, The KAI Foundation took action in Mugarameno, Zambia, where the Kartageners recognized a need for safe and sterile healthcare facilities, specifically regarding maternity care. This led to the first project - building a pre & post natal facility to ensure that the women of the community had a clean, safe place to deliver their babies. The following year, a maternity ward was opened to provide these services to the thousands of women in the surrounding communities.
In the years since the Claire Kartagener Maternity Ward was opened in 2016, the KAI Foundation’s work has expanded to other African nations, including Uganda & Kenya, as well as the Southeast Asian nation of Cambodia, where the Foundation has worked with a primary school to build a new schoolhouse and playground, and to enhance the existing facilities.
Future
The KAI Foundation remains committed to improving the quality of education and healthcare in destinations that KAI operates.
The Foundation ensures that 100% of all donations benefit their projects by partnering with local experts and engaging with community leaders. These relationships are paramount to ensuring that the Foundation’s commitment for continued support is honored.
“The KAI Foundation hopes to play a role in assisting those in need to give future generations a greater opportunity.”
- Henry Kartagener, Chairman of the KAI Foundation
